Celebrating Small Wins Towards Entrepreneurship

Proverbs 10:4 (NIV) “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.”

I am truly inspired by my friends who are out here creating and owning businesses! This blog post is dedicated to you!

Part of having gifts and talent is to share them with the world.

Many of us go to college with one goal in mind, graduate and secure a successful career job. For some of us, this may be the case but for people like me, I had no clue what I wanted to do. Thank God for great mentors along the way that saw greatness in me to push me towards graduate school. However, one thing I probably wanted to take advantage of is learning how to become an entrepreneur. Part of having gifts and talent is to share them with the world. There is healing and encouragement by sharing what you possess on the inside. I’ve always had this feeling of wanting more for myself and pushing my boundaries outside of an 8-5 job.

I am a visionary and I can see what I want something to look like for me. I want to own businesses, and I am aware of the many steps that it takes to attain a successful business. I spent 2020 doing some research, talking to other entrepreneurs, and taking time out to invest some time throwing myself in opportunities that were new to me. In the beginning, I had no idea that all the small steps I took would lead me to have the confidence to actually birth my vision into reality. Several things I needed to celebrate for getting me to this place:

  1. Perfecting my craft in creative writing. I joined Passionate Women CS to write blog posts. (Follow @empoweredbycourt on Instagram)

  2. Fixing my credit and getting better with money management.

  3. Learning how to write a business plan. I connected with a friend from grad school that consults with people who want to launch businesses. (Follow @blk_agenda on Instagram)

  4. I followed Black social media pages that center around entrepreneurship, Black creatives, and content writing pages.

  5. I am in therapy. Healing unlocks levels of greatness in yourself that you couldn’t see due to past circumstances in your life.

I celebrate you and I am rooting for you!

While these may not seem like I officially launched my ideas, I am grateful that I can look back and see the progress I’ve made towards building my future. I celebrate myself and the people that have taken time out time to foster and develop my skills towards building my future. If you are someone that watched one webinar this year, put something on your vision board, or even talked to someone that can hold you accountable to your goals, you are one step closer to becoming a successful entrepreneur. I celebrate you and I am rooting for you!
