Standing in the Downpour

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Have you ever just had those moments where everything you prayed for is being answered right before your eyes?? I heard this phrase in a book I read, and it was saying sometimes you feel the downpour of God's blessings in your life. That phrase has stuck with me ever since. I don’t know why I was surprised though. God has promised me these good things so why not stand in the downpour of His blessings!?

Before reading that phrase in the book, I never considered downpour as being a good thing. We all know the saying, “when it rains, it pours” right? It’s usually said when things are going wrong, and it feels like nothing is going right. But what if our mindset shifts?

"Jermiah 29:11 is a great reminder of what the good side of downpour can look like."

Downpour doesn’t always have to be associated with wrongness or turmoil. Jeremiah 29:11 is a great reminder of what the good side of downpour can look like. God promises to prosper us and give us hope!

In 2019, I prayed to guide me into his promises for my life. It took a little longer than I expected and in between then, I did grow a little impatient. I saw more things go wrong in my life than good. I said, “sheesh! When it rains, it pours!” Without me realizing it, God constructed a plan for me that I would soon see. It is now 2021, I’m more than halfway through my doctoral program, I’m getting married to the love of my life, and God has placed some of the most amazing friends in my circle that I get to do life with. I’m sure there is more coming my way, but while that is happening, I’m going to stand in this downpour of blessings.

What are some of the downpours you’re receiving in this season of your life?
